WIP - Namorra Prime Tribe / Blood Priestess

I continued the work on my latest Warband. This Warband will be something like a tribe.
After the decay of Namorra Prime, a planet in the Ondroma System, the population was forced to find new ways of living. This resulted in self-declared kingdoms, clans, tribes, nomads, cults and marauders, besides a very few remaining imperial strongholds. I really like the idea of a ragtag tribe with a strong family-like bond, that has developed over decades in the wildlands. This warband will also include some kids, which are rarely represented in the 40K Universe, but logically a big part of it, in my opinion. My goal for this warband is a sinister, grim dark appearence with a post-apocalytic touch. I finished the witch / shaman, shown in my last post and really looking forward to paint her.

To represent the Shaman's connection to nature and her enviroment, I thought a familiar in form of a 'pet' would be neat. A beast that scours throu the wilderniss and is actually known to be a dangerous hunter. I've searched for inspiration in my 'bitz-box' and found the new Khorne Flesh Hounds. I converted one of them by removing the spiky crest and the spikes on the tail. A ring was added to the collar and afterwards I used Vallejo's Dark Earth Texture Paint to create a fur-like surface. A surprisingly easy and quick job, that could induce me to create a whole pack of these hunters.

Furthermore, I am creating a Blood Priestess for a Malal Chaos Cult. This is a single-model project and she won't be part of one of my warbands. It's my first commission work and and a new experience for me. Usually I don't do commissions, but in this case I can do what I'm used to do and give it a try. Following some pictures of the progress so far.

More Work in Progress

For the Cult of the Changing Destiny I finished the build of the second new member, which I've started last week. First I modified an AdMech backpack from the Ruststalkers and added some cables to his head.

I wanted to achive this well known, lovely and weird 40K-tech style, which is shown in so many artworks, because this cult member will have the roll of a Rogue Astropath, Familiar, Psy-Enhancer, etc. His 'weapon' should be an psy-artefact. I thought the top of a Rubric Sorcerer's Staff  would look very promising for that. For the arms I used a shortened pair from the Crypt Ghouls. The hand which holds the artefact was bended a bit, so it could hold the sphere. I also drilled holes in the artefact and the backpack.

I used a Green Stuff cable to connect the sphere with his backpack.

Afterwards I sculpted some sleeves.

After this step I used a Van Saar bit for more cables, added another cable to the backpack, glued on some smaller tzeentchian bits, filled tiny gaps with Green Stuff and glued him on a base.

Last but not least, I completed the base as you can see here. And he was ready for the Primer. I really like this small weird character. So far so good.

Next thing to continue with was my Herald of Slaanesh. I added a scarf with Green Stuff and two plates from a Rubric Marine's loincloth.

Then I searched for a right sized head. And searched. And searched. Finally I found one in my Crypt Ghoul 'Start Collecting' Box. The Crypt Horror Head seemed to be the only available option, if I don't want to sculpt a complete head. That would be a very hard task according to my modest sculpting skills. So I tried to convert it into a mask, which should look similar to the cultist's ones. So the cultists have their masks to praise and emulate their Herald. I think that is a nice lore / background detail for my Cult, btw.
I cutted off the big ears, the nose, etc. and added the first layer of Green Stuff.

After the first (crappy) layer was dried I added a second Green Stuff layer to redifine the shapes. I also added horns, which I took from a Skyfire Tzaangor's bow. I took my cam to take a photo and the head was gone. Seriously, it was gone and I havn't found it till today. No questions, please.

So, I started a new attempt. And this time the result of the first layer was so much better. Just take a look. Everything happens for a reason, I guess.

Work in Progress

Last week was not blessed with time for hobby. But I still managed to create some additions for my projects.

First I finished the build of new member for my Tzeentch Cult. The 9th member is a melee fighter.
His torso and arms are from a Kairic Acolyte, which were combined with legs from a Neophtye Hybrid. The GSC symbol was replaced with a tzeentchian one and the transition between the torso and legs were filled with Green Stuff. I also added a plate of the Kairic Acolytes again. I really like these little and versatile plates ;-)
For the head I used one of the Blightkings. Removed the horns and added Green Stuff to achive kind of a wrapped scarf. Next was the weapon. I wanted to have a simple, two handed weapon, which matches the appearance of the other cultists. A Gor spear was the foundation. I've shortened the staff, glued on a reversed hand and used an axe-head, which was also taken from the Gors-Kit. I needed to fill a small gap on the reversed hand and the model was ready for basing. This was done in the same way as before.

I also started to work on another model for the cult. It's based on a Skaven body, which I received from PDH for sending him two old 'Brown Inks'. He actually send me a lot of cool bitz for these two inks! For the models head I used a bird skull and the lower half of a Crypt Ghoul's head. Afterwards I sculpted a hood with green stuff.

During researches for Slaanesh related stuff I stumbled over the following artwork. It's really awesome in my opinion.

The artwork fits my imagination of a 'Herald of Slaanesh' more than perfect. So I started the kitbash.
I used a Fiend's torso and added the snake tail from a Melusai Blood Sister. The Fiend's loincloth was placed on the backside and the gaps were filled with Green Stuff.

The Fiend's Claws were replaced with hands from a Bloodletter. The sword is taken from the Tzaangor of the 'Eyes of the Nine' Warband.

For creating transitions and filling gaps I used Green Stuff again. I'm really looking forward to continue my work on this model and like the direction i'm heading with this.
