Voidsmen

I created some Voidsmen for my upcoming Rogue Trader Kill Team. They should look like a very good equipped squad and have a spec ops like appearance. I guess most Rogue Trader have the credits and connections to get just the best stuff for their crews and retinues.

I’ve kit-bashed them about 2 month ago. In time with my death cult assassin. One more, with a rotary cannon will be next. Actually these are really simple conversions. I used Neophyte Hybrid bodys, legs and arms are from the Imperial Guard kits and the heads are from the Van Saar gangers. I used also several bits for tactical pouches, mag pouches on their front and reasonable stuff like grenades, ropes and holsters. The leaders shotgun is from a Space Marine Scout, combined with a Lasgun. I think it looks bad-ass, but a little oversized.

Voidsmen Sharpshooter

Painting these models was really nice. The Armour and gun casings were based with a khakiish (?) brown, shaded and simply edge highlighted with that same base colour. Nice, effective and a fast job. So far so good. I really like the 'worn / used' look of a shaded surface, but this is just a personal preference. However their dark suits were a hard one for me. I started with a dark grey, shaded with black and again with brown. Then I've done an edge highlight with the base colour and a second highlight with a mid-grey. For my style of painting it was a challanging task. But in the end I'm very pleased with how they turned out and think I gained a lot of expirience by pushing myself forward. Hopefully I can redo this on the next Voidsmen.

Stay tuned and thanks for your visit!

Carrion Pass - Heist in the Ash Wastes

As the Great Ash Road approaches Hive Acropolis, it runs up against the impassable cliffs of a towering plateau.  Those with the time and fuel follow the road South, where two days travel across the flats brings the gates of Acropolis into view.

The less fortunate, or the foolhardy, may risk a run through the Carrion Pass.  This narrow canyon was once a seam of valuable ore, strip mined in a past age to feed the insatiable appetite of Necromunda’s industry.  Now it’s littered with the bones of man and machine - morbid warning signs to all who enter.

Hidden within the crags and side passages of the canyon is an eclectic warren of desperation and villainy.  Ash wasters, troll scum, slavers, mutants and worse descend upon any prey that passes by.

Imor Tan, servant of house Helmawr, guardian of the cargo rig is aware of what is may to come.
His loyal adjutant is already shouting orders and shoos the guards to their positions. An abhorrent bunch of disposable Hive Scum and Arco-Flagellants.

This is my modest contribution to the Inquisimunda event 'Carrion Pass' at Adepticon 2019. My request to join this event and contribute some NPCs was successful and I'm a bit proud and very thankful for this opportunity. At this point I'd like to say that this is my first step into the INQ28 / Inquisimunda community. Everyone I contacted so far was really nice, friendly and helpful.

I joined late and had litte time to create something for this event. I thought that my recently finished Marauders could fit into this scenario pretty well. The challanging part for me was to give this group the right appearance to serve as guards for the cargo rig. Enslaved and damned to guard the cargo rig till the end of their pathetic, worthless lives. Led by a commander with a more imperial / administrativ look, who ensures that they never forget their duty.

Mad Max Fury Road was permanent in my minds. Maybe becaus I've seen some Warbands of the attendants or maybe just because it's a 'heist in the ash wastes' scenario. I converted the Janus Draik mini and created an adjutant based on a Chaos Cultist. I painted them the same way I've painted the marauders before and think they have a coherent look and match perfectly.

Adeptus Mechanicus

My first attemp on an Adeptus Mechanicus character.

It's my modest contribution to an awesome challange which is currently running on Instagram. It is called the GrimDarkCards challange. You get drawn a random card of the awesome Dark-Millenium deck and bring it to life. A lot of talanted and known artists take part on this, so it is definitly worth to take a closer look! The challange runs till the end of march and I'm really looking forward to see all the amazing and hopefully different interpretations of John Blanches art.

I instantly started collecting bits and my vision on this project grows.I wanted to stay as close as possible to the original, but with a personal flavour of my own style and intention. In the end i'm very happy how she turns out.

I'm already creating a narrative background and plan some retinues
But first it's time to smash some paint on this mini. Stay tuned!
