Aeldari Corsairs - The Beginning

During the last days I've started to work on a new Warband. This time I'm going for an Aeldari Corsair Warband. I always liked the esthetic of the Eldar and their lore. Like in my other warbands I wanted to create as many unique models as possible and give them my personal note. I also wanted to use some Wraithblades to add some bigger elite troops. So, without further ado, let us have a look at the creation of the first Corsairs.

The first step was cutting the back of an Aeldari Guardian's torso, that it fits on the Shadow Warrior's torso and cape.

Afterwards I filled the gaps on both sides with Green Stuff and tried to create a smooth surface.

Next I added the Guardian's Legs and used Green Stuff for a better transition.

For the Storm Guardians I used arms and weapons from the Harlequins Kit and. The male head is from the Dire Avengers, the female one is taken from a Drukhari Wych.

The Guardians got their standard arms and shuriken rifles. I also choose a Drukhari helmet for the Coms-Specialist. I also added several smaller bits, equipment like pouches, mags and loincloths from the Wraithblades kit.

Next I filled more gaps, built two Wraithblades and glued some plastic rocks on the bases.

The bases also got a layer of Vallejo's Dark Earth Texturepaint.

For the Commander I built a female Warlock. I always try to challange myself and add female models to my warbands. In this case I used a Harlequin's Torso, legs of a Dire Avenger and the helmet of a Spiritseer.

The right arm incl. the witch staff is also from the Spiritseer model. The half of the Spiritseer's left arm was combined with a harlequins arm.

For the bases I used a mix of various things. Static grass, flock, sand, etc. was mixed with water and PVA glue and applied to the bases with an old brush. After the bases were dried I added more of the brown flock but didn't took a picture. Sorry for that ;-)

After the bases were completed I finished the Warlock. I used Green Stuff for the transitions, replaced the top of the staff with a spearhead and added several Aeldari bits.

As much as I like the Wraithblade models, I wanted to add at least something to them. Leave no one unconverted, or so ;-)  I added ribbons on the arms, which I've found in the Aelven Bloodbowl Kit and completed them with Green Stuff. On the following pictures you can also see the finished bases.

So, with that done I've completed the first wave of models for this warband. While you're reading this I'm already working on a colour scheme ;-). The heads and bases will be painted in a sub-assambly this time, due to the loincloths and cloaks of the Guardians. I guess this will speed up the painting and make things a lot easier.

Thanks a lot for your visit, feel welcome to comment and stay tuned
