That is absolutely stunning! Brilliant conversion and paintjob! I was thrown off by the use of a Tau skull for a minute there, before I realised that it actually fits the eccentricity of the Adeptus Mechanicus to fashion a faceplate out of everything that takes their fancy, Xenos skulls included.
But seriously, brilliant! Send this to WD ASAP -- I am pretty sure they'd print it.
Thanks again for your kind words! I never thought I could impress someone like you. You are a hobby legend for me! ;-)
I followed your suggestion and and mailed it to WD. Fingers crossed for their reply. But, honestly I've got the biggest honour for this already. A good friend of you, some know him as PDH, showed my mini yesterday to John Blanche himself and said 'he was impressed'. And know your appreciation! What could an artist like me want more?
The Tau head was a bit of a risky compromise. I wanted to do something special and outstanding, something I haven't seen before. I guess it was the right decision.
I never really intended to build an Adeptus Mechanicus model till I was 'forced' to do. And in the end I like this model so much that i want to create a warband as soon as possible for her. Give her a deep background, etc. Would be usefull for my blog as well. My writing in articles was deadlocked the last posts.
All this gets me so motivated and hopeful to keep up my work. Okay, even with no feedback I would keep up, just because it's my recovered passion.
Once I've finished an INQ28 warband, I may ask you if you would run a game with me...
First of all, thank you for the kind words! A "hobby legend", eh? I won't lie, that's very flattering indeed. But it also seems a bit weird, seeing how fantastic your model is -- looking at the quality of your work, I'd say you have more than enough talent to be up there with the best of them, and I imagine impressing John is only the start -- although I can understand what a fantastic feeling that must be.
As for finishing a warband for her, I can hardly wait to see that!
I am 32 and based in NRW, near Leverkusen / Cologne.
I bought my first minis in 05/2018 after I quit hobby back in ~2004. I never had big armies or was really into gaming and really not good in painting. But I always thought that the coolest things in the older codexes and WDs were the awesome conversions and I wanted my minis to be unique too. I tried a lot of converting back then.
Last year I stumbled over your blog and saw all these awesomeness. Amazing conversions, INQ28 warbands, fluff, your Khorne themed renegades and so much information about all your work. And finaly this led me to some other great blogs and give me a new perspective of this hobby. Very similar to what I always was ever intended to. I watched so many painting tutorials and somehow I am able to implement this on my minis. I really have to thank Duncan and Chris for their work on WarhammerTV. This all has developed in such a great way and I'm really happy about my decision to make a step out of the shadow into the community.
Woah i have no words... Best admech i have ever seen!!! is it possible for you to tell what did you use to achive such amazing kitbash? or is it secret?
